As I anticipate the kickoff of the second season of Bearings: Navigating Life-As-Ministry, I want to thank the award-winning blog’s co-editors, Elizabeth Drescher and Alyssa Lodewick, for their work on convening the diverse community of voices that contributed to a successful inaugural year. I am also deeply grateful to all of our bloggers, who offered such insightful markers for navigating the challenges and opportunities of 21st-century ministry.
In the coming months, we will introduce you to some new (to us) Bearings contributors, who will add their voices to those of the Bearings writers you got to know last year. To get the ball rolling next week, Mihee Kim-Kort—Presbyterian minister, author, creator of the podcast This Everyday Holy, and one-half of the team behind Yoked: Stories of a Clergy Couple in Marriage, Family, and Ministry—will share her first offering with the Bearings community. We look forward to reading her work and conversing about it with you. (At the bottom of each blog post, there is a place to leave comments. Please do so! Our authors love to engage with readers.)
To all of you who have discovered Bearings and recommended it to others—and to all of you who have accompanied The BTS Center on its journey of growth and discovery as a startup nonprofit—I extend my heartiest thanks. Bearings represents one way in which The Center is carrying out its mission of “equipping and supporting” clergy and laity for “theologically-grounded and effective 21st-century ministries.” We look forward to providing you with additional resources and learning opportunities in the future . . . and we’re glad that you’re on this expedition with us.
